Diversity and OutreachComputational Science Workshop for Underrepresented GroupsWe have established an annual series of workshops for undergraduate students and their faculty mentors from underrepresented groups. Our latest, 5th Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups (CSWUG) was held January 4-10, 2006 at the USC campus. Twenty-five undergraduate students and ten faculty mentors, primarily from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Serving Institutions, participated in the workshop. The 2006 workshop provided the participants with hands on experience in parallel computing, Grid computing and immersive and interactive visualization. At the workshop, student and faculty participants built a parallel computer from components and then used it to perform a number of parallel computing exercises. Eight experts were invited to make presentations on emerging opportunities for research and education in computational sciences. We look forward to hosting the next CSWUG at USC in 2008. 2008 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups Past workshops (currently go to old pages, use your back button to return): 2007 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups 2006 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups 2005 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups 2004 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups 2003 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups 2002 Computational Science Workshop for Underrepresented Groups |
